Our story

Pickle and Ginger Press is a family-run children's publisher in Brisbane, Queensland — and it is named after two real Pekin bantam chickens. Pickle, the black one, and Ginger, the golden one, supervise every manuscript from beneath the back steps.

The books are made at the kitchen table: written by Yeasl Kim, drawn by Leonidas Rowe, and edited by Christopher Rowe. Every story is set in Cockatoo Town.
